About The Neelkanth Trek
The Neelkanth Mahadev Trek is one of the most spiritually enriching hikes in the Garhwal Himalayas. Starting just 2 km from Valencia River Resort, the trail winds through dense deodar forests, whispering streams, and terraced mountain villages before reaching the revered Neelkanth Mahadev Temple at 1,675 metres above sea level.
Legend has it that Lord Shiva consumed the deadly halahal poison during the Samudra Manthan (cosmic churning) at this very spot — turning his throat blue (neel = blue, kanth = throat). Today, thousands of pilgrims, yogis and adventure lovers walk this path, combining the thrill of trekking with the calm of a sacred darshan.
